IFBB Mr. Olympia 1965-1966

Larry Scott was a pioneer in the world of bodybuilding and is best known for being the first ever winner of the Mr. Olympia title.

Born in Blackfoot, Idaho in 1938, Scott began weightlifting at a young age and quickly became interested in bodybuilding. He competed in his first bodybuilding competition at the age of 18 and won the Mr. Idaho title.

Scott’s career really took off in the 1960s, when he became a top contender in the Mr. Universe competition. In 1965, he won the prestigious title and became the first person to win the Mr. Universe competition two years in a row.

But Scott’s biggest accomplishment came in the form of the Mr. Olympia title, which was established in 1965. The inaugural Mr. Olympia competition was held in New York City, and Scott emerged as the winner, becoming the first ever Mr. Olympia. He went on to defend his title in 1966, cementing his place as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. Scott was known for his impressive biceps and defined muscles, which he achieved through a strict training and diet regimen.

He trained six days a week, focusing on heavy weightlifting and incorporating a variety of exercises to target different muscle groups. He also followed a strict diet, consuming large amounts of protein and other nutrients to fuel his workouts and help his muscles recover.

In addition to his success as a bodybuilder, Scott was also a popular figure in the bodybuilding industry, serving as a spokesperson for various supplements and fitness equipment companies. He was also a successful businessman, owning and operating a number of fitness-related businesses throughout his career.

Despite his many accomplishments, Scott faced challenges in his personal life. In 1970, he suffered a back injury that forced him to retire from competitive bodybuilding. He later struggled with addiction and financial problems, and passed away in 2014 at the age of 75.

Despite these challenges, Larry Scott will always be remembered as a pioneer in the world of bodybuilding and an inspiration to many aspiring bodybuilders. His dedication to training and his impressive physique have made him a legend in the sport, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of bodybuilders.
